2019 Rescue Projects

Just so you can follow along at home, I’ve got a few things I’m working on that I’ll share with you today.  I plan on checking in every 6 months on these projects to give you an idea of how I rescue websites and make them profitable.

Website Rescue Internal Projects for 2019

This first one was a domain that had a TON of authority, but it needed a reboot.  The owner had let it sit idle for many months, and had very limited content on the domain.

People, when you have a domain with a kick ass authority score, you add content until your fingers bleed or your writers quit!  That’s just the name of the game, because when you have an authority website, it needs to be fed content like a newborn baby needs breast milk!

Reboot

It’s early, but adding 60 pages of well written, long form content has seemed to wake up this website.  It boasts some incredible rankings for some keywords that can lead to affiliate marketing sales, and it’s also showing up in some snippets!

This one reminds me of the health website rescue I did last year, but this one had much more authority and was downright abandoned.  This site was not cheap, but it’ll pay off dividends for years to come, as it’s already earning consistent monthly revenues.

Another project I decided to take on was a VERY powerful domain that was for sale.  The prior owners had no use for it, and perhaps they weren’t Internet Marketers, but being one, and seeing the potential, I decided to jump in with two feet.  I’m glad I did, because after a re-theming (read about re-purposing domains here) and proper angle inserted, this website started MOONING.

Info Site Recovery

Just look at that hockey stick graph!  That’s the exact thing you want to see when you start investing in a website on a monthly basis, a growth curve that rockets straight up, with no sign of stopping.  I’ll be looking forward to checking back in on this one after several more months of hard work, killer content, and precise backlinking.

Here are some of the incredible positions this site has already achieved in the short time (5 months) it’s been in our portfolio.

  • #1 (74,000 searches)
  • #3 (74,000 searches)
  • #4 (34,000 searches)
  • #3 (22,000 searches)
  • #11 (45,000 searches)

Those are all monthly search volumes, and the site is getting nearly 1,000 unique visits per day. Re-Purposing a Domain Name that Dropped

Often times webmasters and business owners drop their domain names. This can be for a variety of reasons, but for whatever that reason may be, they become available for purchase on the after-market.  You can find some absolute gems out there if you know where to look.  Today I’m going to start the documentation process for a Website Rescue of a domain I bought for just shy of $2,000 that had very solid metrics and many powerful back links. Noteworthy links include Wikipedia and many other authority websites.

How to Re-Purpose a Domain

The first thing you’ll want to do is decide which angle you want to take with this domain name.  In this case, the domain had MUCH more traffic in years past.  It was purchased in January of 17 and very little content was put up on it initially.  However, after some time, more content was added and it appeared to index very well.  The thing was, I didn’t feed it with enough content that was relatable.  This was a domain being used to link out to other websites (commonly known as a PBN) to pass along some authority in hopes of getting it able to rank higher.  Links coming into your website are very, very important when it comes to getting search engine rankings in Google.

Case Study

In late July I noticed the uptick in traffic. While it wasn’t much, it had some solid page two rankings for some very difficult terms.  This was done with very basic SEO and time put into the site, and I saw this as a huge opportunity.  At this point in time, I eradicated most of the previously built pages and decided to theme this website and theme it for one generic niche.

When I did that, I started doing daily content updates with many thoughts on current events in the niche.  At the same time, I had evergreen pages written that were designed to one day make money through affiliate programs by recommending products.

I found that a couple of the letters in the domain name could be used a a play on words that would essentially help me transition into my topic of choice.

Health Website Rescue

In our latest Website Rescue, we’re looking to revive a health website first registered in 2003.

If you saw our last update, you know we’re also rescuing an affiliate marketing geared art website.  These projects are running simultaneously to test different recovery strategies.

Here are the current stats on the health project.  This officially boarded as a project in May of 2018, once we saw that the once penalized domain became healthy again.  A strong focus was on page SEO, and after that was shored up, we added over 100 pages of useful content, with proper photo optimization.  With enough content to show Google that we mean business, we then started an outreach campaign.  This campaign will grow during the Fall months of 2018.

Health Website Rescue Project – Stats as of July 31, 2018

Early Recovery

One of the major factors we dug into and fixed in June of 2018 was page speed and website theme.  The design was questionable, and the speed was horrific!  With page speed being very important to SEO, this was something we dove into immediately.  You can see by the graph above that this was a major catalyst towards growth, and with a healthy site and proper page speed, the sky is the limit.  Of course, once this site started getting a few links, the domain authority score rose sharply.

We’ll be updating this entry as time progresses, so please check back soon for more information on this website rescue!
