Amazon FBA Ninja Review

Amazon FBA Ninja Review

Amazon FBA has grown in popularity over the years. There are plenty of entrepreneurs that are dipping their toes in the eCommerce waters. While others have had success, there have been those who have struggled as well.

I can personally speak to the upside of being an Amazon FBA seller.  I accepted Amazon to be part of my brand’s revenue strategy many years ago and have grown the business into a multi-million dollar empire – JUST on Amazon alone.  The amount of traffic Amazon gives you as a seller is much larger than Google, and all of these people are sitting there with their credit cards on file and with one click of the mouse, you can have them buying your products on the world’s largest shopping portal.

With the popularity of Amazon FBA comes the number of courses that teach people a step-by-step guide on how to be successful on the platform. While these courses show you how to attain this success in their own unique approach, it’s about finding one that will give you the best value and the best strategy to execute.

We’ll be taking a look at Kevin David’s Amazon FBA Ninja course. This will be an in-depth review so you’ll know exactly what to expect when you purchase this course. We’ll talk about what every module covers and everything in between.

If you are considering the idea of purchasing an Amazon FBA course and this one popped up on your radar, read on so you know what this course, in particular, is about. The last thing you want to do is purchase a course and not know what’s inside. Without further ado, let’s get right to it:

What is Amazon FBA?

First of all, we’ll cover briefly what Amazon FBA is for those not in the know.  FBA stands for fulfillment by Amazon.  The goal of Amazon FBA is that you sell products on Amazon with a store that you set up by yourself. You earn money simply by selling these products.

As for procuring these products, you can do this in a few ways. One of the most popular ways of procuring products is via Alibaba. We’ll discuss this in more detail while we’re discussing the module that covers product acquisition.

Another way to procure products is by getting them yourself. You’ll see plenty of videos of people talking about going to the clearance rack of your local Wal-Mart, Target, etc. and selling products for a profit by selling them on Amazon. But here’s where it gets better: you don’t necessarily have to keep the product to yourself until it’s sold.

That’s right: you don’t need to physically hold on to the product. If you have products you want to sell on Amazon, you send them to a fulfillment center that will hold on to the product. If you get them from a supplier, you can have it arranged to have it stored in an Amazon fulfillment center as well.

When selling products on Amazon from your store, you earn a percentage of the sales. Amazon of course takes a percentage of the total sales. But you can still be able to make a good profit from the products that you sell.

Amazon FBA still remains one of the most popular eCommerce options to this day. If you are looking for a way to cut your teeth into eCommerce without dealing with a lot of startup costs, then you might want to check it out for yourself. Now, let’s talk about the brain behind the Amazon FBA Ninja course.

Who is Kevin David?

Kevin DavidKevin David is no stranger to entrepreneurship. If you’ve been doing any kind of entrepreneurship for a while now, you might have heard his name a few times. If not, no worries…we’ll talk a bit about him.

Kevin is a native of Oregon. His first foray with entrepreneurship began at the age of 14. He was making some money selling candy bars and later baseball cards. It was then that he decided that it was his destiny to be a businessman.

Like many successful entrepreneurs out there, Kevin worked regular jobs. He also delved into app development and at one point held an accounting job. But he decided to focus on educating himself on Google Ads and making money with affiliate marketing (specifically the Amazon affiliate program).

After applying what he learned, that’s when he was seeing some success. But it was only the beginning. He would soon discover Amazon FBA while working for Facebook.

That’s when he went to work. Soon, he would find his footing and start selling products online. As they say, the rest is history.

As of today, Kevin is currently selling online courses and is best known as “That Lifestyle Ninja”. He is the host of the Ninja Podcast. It is said that he has made well over $5 million in his lifetime as an entrepreneur.

Review Of Amazon FBA Ninja

The following is a detailed review of Kevin David’s Amazon FBA Ninja online course. This contains well over 10 hours of video lessons that are jam-packed with information on how you can succeed on Amazon FBA. This review will give you a good idea of what to expect throughout the course.

While the course may be as detailed as it gets when it comes to Amazon FBA, it’s up to you to determine whether or not if this course is right for you. We’ll cover every module of this course and what you’ll learn from each of them. Now, let’s break down this course and discuss each module.

Module 1: Licensing and product selection

The first module will cover licensing and initial product selection. Right off the bat, Kevin suggests that you register as an LLC. Keep in mind that you can register as an LLC in your state or other states that you don’t reside in (feel free to do research on that when you have the opportunity).

In fact, Kevin does not want you to spend a ridiculous amount of money on an LLC. The less money you spend on one, the better. This is a good idea if you want to maximize your total earning potential while keeping expenses minimal.

Next, Kevin will show you how to select a product using Jungle Scout. Jungle Scout is a product research tool that is widely used by those who sell via Amazon FBA. Kevin will give you a detailed walkthrough of how to navigate Jungle Scout and how to choose a product for sale.

While using Jungle Scout may seem basic enough, Kevin takes it a step further and shows you how to be a legit wizard at it. If you want to really navigate it, listen to what Kevin has to say so you can find product research a lot easier for you. Just be sure to take a good amount of notes during this module (actually, you might want to take notes throughout the rest of the course itself).

This is an introductory module that covers plenty of bases. So starting out will be a lot easier for you if you follow Kevin’s instructions. Before you know it, finding products will be a cinch.

Module 2: Choosing a supplier and ordering the first products

With Module 1 out of the way, we’ll not segue into the second module. This one will focus on finding the right supplier who has the products you intend to sell. This is where you need to really pay attention so you don’t deal with a supplier that will pull the wool under your eyes and scam you.

In this module, Kevin will first explain about barcodes. Amazon has these unique barcodes that are used for products being sold on Amazon. All you need is the product’s UPC and you can convert that into a unique Amazon bar code using Amazon’s Sellers Central.

Next, Kevin will show you how to establish communications with your suppliers. This is part of the module you really want to pay attention to. Communication and negotiation are important when you want to get the best deal possible for your first (and subsequent orders).

There is one part of the module where you’ll be able to learn how to find suppliers, negotiate MOQs, and setting the shipping process so the products go from the supplier to the Amazon fulfillment center. Let’s break down this process without a spoiler.

First, Kevin will show you how to find suppliers on Alibaba. He will also specify which filters to use so you can be able to weed out all the bad eggs and whittle them down to the reputable suppliers. He’ll mention which things to look out for so you can save yourself the time and frustration that comes with dealing with poorly rated suppliers.

Next, Kevin will show you how to find a supplier based on the minimum order quantity or MOQ. He will show you how to negotiate a good deal for ordering your first batch of products. This is certainly key when you don’t want to start out with spending a lot of money on products.

Finally, he’ll give you a step-by-step guide on how those products go to Amazon’s fulfillment centers instead of your house. Again, the last thing you want to do is have a room full of products you’re trying to sell taking up room inside your house. Set this up the way Kevin teaches it and you should be all set.

He’ll also suggest that you choose the best shipping option for your products. You have two choices: FOB or EXW. Kevin will suggest that you go with FOB since it will hold the supplier reliable for any damages that may occur during the shipping process itself.

Yes, FOB is the most expensive option of the two. However, this will save you money and a lot of frustration in the long-run. If you choose EXW, the responsibility for any damage is laid upon you.

In the last part of this module, Kevin stresses that your products need to be inspected before they are even shipped to the fulfillment center and sold to the market. Yes, inspection for quality and other issues is necessary. The last thing you want is an angry customer who has a product that literally fell apart on them en route to their house or the day of receiving it.

Module 3: Brand Registry, Pricing, and Product Listings

Module 3 will cover the topics on brand registry, setting your own price, and being able to maximize your product listings and ranking on Amazon. If you want to truly succeed on Amazon, registering your brand name will be essential. Kevin will show you how to do that.

One of the major perks that registered brands on Amazon get is advertising. If you can pull off a good advertising strategy, you maximize your chances of selling online. But that’s just part of the battle.

Next, you will learn how to properly format your listings on both the front and back ends. This will help you increase organic sales by a lot. You will also learn how to rank with keywords that are relevant to your product.

You will also learn to harness the power of video in order to make yourself stand out over the competition. While keyword ranking and improving your listing is a task that might be a doozy, Kevin will show you how to get it done step by step. Plus, the higher you rank with keywords related to your product, the better.

Also in this module, Kevin will show you ways to deal with those pesky hijackers who want nothing more than to destroy your business. This will typically happen if and when you are running low on stock. You’ll learn how to reclaim your place in the buy box and maintain your ranking.

Hijackers can be a real pain and they’ll use black hat tactics to steal your rankings and knock you off the buyer’s box. With Kevin’s tips, you’ll learn how to put a stop to them at the snap of a finger. Don’t let the hijackers hurt your business without knowing what to do.

Of course, since this talks about product listings you’ll be able to learn how to write excellent copy that will make your listing stand out better. Plus, you’ll learn how to maximize your profit potential by offering upsells. If anything, upsells are a great way to add extra money to every initial sale.

While each module has a lot of information that you need to learn about, it would be a mistake to skip this one and go to the next. Especially when you’ll be dealing with competitors who will use blackhat tactics to hijack your listings. You really want to keep yourself ahead of the curve when it comes to those who want to destroy your overall success on Amazon.

Module 4: Product Launches, Giveaways, and Promotions

The fourth module will focus on launching your products. This will also show you how to do giveaways and promotions without hurting your earning potential. You will learn how to use advertising to help improve your ranking, navigate pricing tools, and mistakes to avoid when you do giveaways and promotions.

This is an excellent module for those who want to find ways to stay ahead of the competition and be able to rank better in the product listings. Of course, your higher rank will help you get more sales. Plus, Kevin will talk about Amazon Marketing Service and how you can leverage it to your advantage.

This module is pretty short running at just south of an hour in length. So there really isn’t a lot to talk about here. But it’s an important module nonetheless.

Basically, it will cover some of the marketing aspects of selling your product. Even if you suck at advertising, Kevin will show you how to market your products on Amazon properly. Also, be sure to read up on Amazon Marketing Service whenever you get the chance.

Module 5: Reviews

This module is another short one just running at around 20 minutes. But it will be worth watching since it covers one of the most vital aspects of selling your Amazon products online. What we’re talking about are reviews.

You’ll learn how to use email follow-ups and Facebook review groups as a way to get better reviews for your products. The better your reviews, the more social proof you have. Plus, it will give new buyers a good idea of what to expect when buying your product.

Of course, you’re going to run into negative product reviews at some point. So the email follow-ups and FB interactions can come in handy as to why the product did not work to the customer’s satisfaction. If you’re going to achieve success in eCommerce, it’s better to deal with the downsides of negative reviews rather than ignore them.

However, there are some negative reviews that are worth ignoring anyway. Some will just leave one-star reviews as a way to troll you (or they probably hate everything). But nevertheless, this is a pretty valuable module despite being a short one.

Module 6: Using AMS and PPC

In Module Six, we circle back to AMS and the use of PPC ads for your products. This is where Kevin will dive deeper into AMS and will show you how to use it to your advantage. Here, you’ll learn about the three different types of promotions that you can use to leverage your chances of increasing your sales and your overall product ranking.

You’ll also learn how to master the art of Pay-Per-Click (PPC) ads so you can be able to generate traffic from search engines directly to your product page. Let’s face it: a lot of people always rely on search engines when they look for a specific product. And PPC ads can really hit the home runs for you if you write great copy and have it targeted to where the right people get to see it.

You’ll learn of three different PPC campaigns that you can work with: broad match, phrase match, and exact match. These types are pretty self-explanatory. Plus, you’ll learn a bevy of tips and hacks that will keep you ahead of the curve over your competition when it comes to publishing these PPC ads.

Module 7: Using Instagram and Facebook

In the penultimate module, you’ll learn how to use Instagram and Facebook to your advantage. The latter will be specifically focused on how you can use Facebook groups to promote your product. With Instagram, it’s about finding the right kind of influencers who can give you a shoutout or promote your product.

Kevin will give you a battle plan that you must follow to a T in order to maximize your product promos on social media. This includes finding the right influencers, timing your promotions just right, and being able to balance these out with days with sales at a regular price. You will learn how to navigate Instagram and Facebook as a way to generate traffic and be able to promote your products ethically.

Even better, you’ll learn how to use Messenger as a way to point your customers in the right direction whenever they are looking for a product. When it comes to business, it’s nice to include some kind of automation.

Module 8: “Bulletproof Hacks”

In the final module, you’ll learn some additional hacks that will help you maximize your success on Amazon FBA. The main goal here is improving your efficiency when it comes to the entire sales process. You’ll learn how to cross-post on other sites like eBay, finding reviewers who tend to use an alias when leaving one for one of your products, and keeping the hijackers at bay by taking the necessary precautions in protecting your account.

This near hour-long module is perhaps the perfect wrap-up for when you need to press forward with your Amazon FBA business. Kevin will show you how to even recover from potential trouble that you may be facing (such as potential legal action for copyright infringement and the like). You’ll also learn about how Amazon should be paying you for the mistakes they make (and believe it or not, they do).

Plenty of people who use Amazon FBA lose out on a lot of money and they don’t know why. You can make sure that Amazon will pay you for every penny owed if the situation were to arise. If you truly want some serious weapons in your Amazon FBA arsenal, this module is worth watching.

What We Liked About The Course

Now that we’ve covered all of the modules in detail, we’ll get down to the fun part. We’ll discuss the good things about the course first along with the not so good things (and suggest some improvements). Here are some things that we’re happy about:

Very detailed explanations throughout the course

What sets Kevin’s course apart from the others is how he’s able to explain things in deeper detail and it can be easy to understand. The walkthroughs are thorough and he wants to make sure that you don’t miss a single step. He even makes what appears to be the most complex task of running an Amazon FBA business very easy to do.

Even though some of the modules are lengthy, Kevin does his best to cover all the bases on the topics discussed. Be sure to take plenty of notes during each module. Of course, you’ll be able to go back and rewatch a module if you have to.

Lifetime access

One of the best things about this course is that you get lifetime access after purchasing it.  This means that if the course is updated, you’ll get them. Plus, you can be able to go back and rewatch the modules as many times as you like.

The strategies are legit

Of course, the strategies laid out in front of you are legit. They are the steps that Kevin himself had to take in order to achieve his success with Amazon FBA. Now, he’s sharing it with you, his students. Not to mention, the strategies that worked for him when he started out a few years ago are still the same and have the ability to help you attain the results you want.

It has an affiliate program

If you are someone who has built an email list for your blog, you might take advantage of the affiliate program that Kevin has for the course. Obviously, you’ll need to be a student in order to be eligible. But you can get a nice slice of the sales pie when your subscribers sign up to become a student themselves.

It pays to give a lot of value to a course that you might have enjoyed taking. Plus, it’s another great way to earn some extra money along with what you’re earning from your other streams of income. If there is one way to leverage your email list, it’s affiliate marketing.

What we didn’t like

Next, we’ll talk about the stuff that we weren’t happy about. We’ll also make some suggestions on improvements as we go. Let’s get to it:

The price is quite high

Look, we get it. It’s a price that he believes is fair for all this value he’s looking to give to those who want success on Amazon.  Even though the original price is $3997, he slashes the price down to nearly $2000.  That’s still quite steep.

But if you are willing to put in the work and serious about success, then clearly this could be the best investment for you. Then again, the higher you pay for a course then surely a lot of the students will take their success very seriously.

The good news however is that payment plans are available for those who don’t pay the price in one go. So if you are strapped for cash and can afford the down payments, go for it. Just remember, this is a big investment you are putting on yourself.

The introductory module is quite long

The first module clocks in at well over three hours. Which is understandable since it covers a good number of basic stuff. So if you are starting out with this course, you might want to clear the rest of the day if you need to.

However, from there the modules are roughly an hour-long at max (with the exception of modules 2, 4, 5, and 8). The hour-long modules are good enough. But the introductory module could be broken up into separate modules if possible.

The constant spam

Let’s turn our attention for a moment to the Facebook group that ties into this course. It’s been said that some of the students were not happy with how it was littered with spam. More specifically, it’s just people who have taken some of Kevin’s other courses and are using the affiliate program to snag some sales

Not only is spamming not the right thing to do when it comes to affiliate marketing, but it also damages the integrity of the group as a whole. If there is one improvement that should be done, it should be Kevin himself promoting his other courses if he feels the need to do so. Affiliates should limit their offerings of Kevin’s other courses using their email list or blog.

Confusion about the refund policy

Yes, refund policies are essential when it comes to online courses (or any other business). However, there have been constant misunderstandings of the policy. Kevin outlines that if you have finished 50% of the course or more, you cannot be refunded. This could be due to people taking advantage of refund policies even after taking the course itself.

No one wants to be taken advantage of. But the refund policy should be at least improved so there is no one exploiting it. A 60-day money-back guarantee would be sufficient as opposed to a 50% completion of the course. As to whether that could change to that is anyone’s guess.

The Pros and Cons of Amazon FBA

Let’s shift gears and talk about Amazon FBA for a moment. You’re reading this because you have some kind of interest and want to take a course. But what are the pros and cons of the Amazon FBA itself?

The following is a section of what to expect as you are starting out with Amazon FBA itself. This will likely determine if Amazon FBA is right for you (and therefore can determine if purchasing a course like Kevin’s is worth it). Let’s get to the pros first:

Pros

  • Shipping costs are cheap: If you’re worried about shipping costs eating away at your profit margins, no need to worry. As long as the products are not heavy in bulk or super large, then you should be out of the woods. As such, make sure your products are lightweight and easy to ship.
  • Sell faster with Prime: As an FBA member, your items will be eligible for Amazon Prime. This means you have a better chance of selling your products (especially with two-day shipping, which is pretty fast). Selling products with Prime available will give you a better advantage over your competition.
  • Better leverage for Buyer’s Box: If you are an FBA member, you will get better leverage and priority for the buyer’s box. Like Prime, it sets you up for the likelihood of your product getting sold before your competitors. It’s just another advantage that you have over those who sell their products but are not FBA members.
  • Fulfillment on multiple channels: Believe it or not, you can sell your items on multiple channels other than Amazon. It can be social media, your blog, wherever. All roads will basically lead to the product page where the customer will buy it right away if you provide enough value.

Cons

  • Hard to track inventory: Let’s face it: we wish there was an easy way to track inventory. Especially when you have hundreds or thousands of the same product. However, keep in mind that not every product that you have in fulfillment will be sold.

On top of that, you also get charged fees for retained inventory. The good news is there might be some programs that will make tracking inventory less difficult. Alternatively, you should consider reducing the overall inventory (and order fewer items when the next opportunity to do so arises).

  • Returns happen: Like every eCommerce store, returns will happen. That will obviously result in refunds. That’s the nature of the business, unfortunately.

That’s because Amazon has an easy returns policy. If returning something a customer ordered on the site is easy enough, it’s anyone’s guess how many will “take advantage” of it. Brace yourself for the possibility of returns.

  • It costs money: Of course, Amazon FBA comes with a fee. It will depend on how much inventory you are carrying. Think of it like paying rent and the items you sell are tenets of that space.

That’s why it’s important to consider what you need to order for products when interacting with your supplier on a regular basis. The less inventory you have on hold, the lesser fees you will pay.

  • Competitors may be selling the same product: Oversaturation is an issue on Amazon FBA. You have people selling the same product because “that’s where the money is”. If there is one thing to do to avoid this herd mentality, then sell a product that can be profitable, but not everyone seems to be dead set on selling.

Is Amazon FBA Ninja worth it?

If you are serious about starting an Amazon FBA business, then it might be worth considering the idea of taking a course. Kevin David’s Amazon FBA Ninja course might be worth the investment despite its high price tag. If you can afford it, it never hurts to take the course.

The higher priced the course, the more likely you’re serious about meeting your financial goals using Amazon FBA. Sure, it’s much higher in price compared to other FBA courses, but it just might be an indicator that it holds a lot of high-quality value.

Besides, if you get this course for free, would you be serious about fulfilling your FBA goals? Probably not. So think about how much money you are willing to put in if you want to learn about FBA without fielding through Google results for hours on end.

Final Thoughts

The Amazon FBA Ninja course has been around for a few years. While it might need to be updated in some areas, the tactics and strategies that Kevin David shows you are the real deal. Plus, they work now in 2020 then they did in the previous years.

The good news is that Kevin David is the real deal. He’s got quite a following on YouTube and various social media channels. So it proves that he is an authority figure in entrepreneurship circles. Of course, you’re going to hear about the people who say he’s a scam.

If you think that someone is this successful is a scammer, then that may be on you (unless there is unequivocal proof stating otherwise). But Kevin David is someone that you should listen to if you are looking to dip your toes into the eCommerce waters. He’s got plenty of courses that focus on different topics.

Are his courses expensive? Yes. But there is plenty of value that’s worth every single penny.

Thankfully, he has financing options available so you can make regular installments. This should at least give you the idea of being serious with your investment, whether you pay for the course in full or in installments. Consider the value of his courses when looking at the price.

In the final analysis, it’s your choice as to whether you want to purchase this course or not. The same can be said about Amazon FBA. Either it’s right for you or it’s not.

If you are looking at Amazon FBA as a “get rich quick” opportunity, you’ll be sadly mistaken. Because you won’t be able to sell out your products all in one day. Making money with Amazon FBA will take time and a lot of work.

If you are willing to put in the work and the investment of money involved, then Amazon FBA may be right for you.
